System security mainly focuses on understanding, uncovering, and defending against various security threats and vulnerabilities in computer hardware, system software, and user- space applications. System security research in our department covers a wide spectrum of computing platforms, including not only traditional computing platforms such as desktops, mobiles, servers, and clouds, but also emerging platforms such as IoT and blockchain. The particular problems of our current interests are side channel attacks and defenses, security issues with trusted execution environment (TEE), binary code analysis and hardening, and vulnerability discovery in mobile and IoT.
