Through private and public sponsors, the CSE is pleased to provide funding for selected women and underrepresented minorities to attend these and other professional conferences.
Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing is an international, annual conference designed to bring the research and career interests of women in computing to the forefront. Presenters are leaders in their respective fields, representing industrial, academic and government communities. Leading researchers present their current work, while special sessions focus on the role of women in today's technology fields. Nearly 5000 women students, faculty and members of industry from around the world attended the 2013 celebration, and it grows every year!
Ohio Celebration of Women in Computing (OCWiC) is a regional conference modeled after the Grace Hopper Celebration held in every other year. More than a hundred attendees from all over the state, ranged from freshmen to grad students, from faculty to women working in IT jobs in industry. There are parallel career panels focusing on either industry or academic careers. Undergraduate students have the opportunity to showcase their research with a poster session. Technical paper presentations are made by faculty and graduate students alike. The diversity of the topics illustrated the breadth and scope of opportunities in computing.
ACM Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education (SIGCSE) provides a forum for problems common among educators working to develop, implement and/or evaluate computing programs, curricula, and courses, as well as syllabi, laboratories, and other elements of teaching and pedagogy. An annual symposium provides a diverse selection of technical sessions and opportunities for learning and interaction. This symposium addresses problems common among educators working to develop, implement and/or evaluate computing programs, curricula, and courses. In addition, the symposium provides a forum for sharing new ideas for syllabi, laboratories, and other elements of teaching and pedagogy, at all levels of instruction.
