The Tsinghua Gate

Established in 1911 with its original name as "Tsinghua School", Tsinghua University that is located in the northwestern suburb of Beijing, is a highly selective engineering school in China. The original Tsinghua School was to prepare students who had been selected by the government to study in the U.S. The university education was introduced in Tsinghua in 1925 when the undergraduate students were first enrolled. The school name was changed to "National Tsinghua University" in 1928. Research programs have been established in Tsinghua since 1929.

The delegation visited Tsinghua on May 25, 2006, where they met professors, and students, and toured several research labs. This group picture was taken in front the Tsinghua Gate. The Tsinghua Yard

This picture was taken in front of the Tsinghua's oldest lecture hall that was built in 1919 on a green yard. The 4 characters carved on the stone sundial says "Doing is more important than talking", reflecting a solid engineering spirit and tradition of Tsinghua.

The Tsinghua Hall

This picture was taken inside the new lecture Hall in the main building of Tsinghua where many Presidents from foreign countries, including US President George Bush Jr., have given their lectures to Tsinghua's faculty and students. The eight characters are the Admonition of Tsinghua: "Making a tireless effort to improve oneself, Behaving oneself with a high moral standard.
