Visiting the Institute of Computing Technology (ICT)The Institute of Computing Technology (ICT), located in northwest suburb in Beijing close to many research universities, is one of several dozen research institutes under the administration of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. ICT is the major institute for computer science and engineering research in the Academy of Sciences. The research funding of ICT mainly comes from the Academy of Sciences and other sources, such as the National Science Foundation China, and Ministry of Science and Technology. ICT has also been authorized by the Ministry of Education to offer Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science and Technology since 1981. ICT has played an important role to independently build computer hardware and system software in China since its establishment in 1956. It is one of a small number number research sites emphasizing on building computer systems and architecture in China.
