Rules
- Survey Report Due Date:
Students should submit their reports (in hardcopy and softcopy) to the
grader at noon (12:00 PM), Dec. 6, 2009.
- Survey Topic Selection: Any
selected topic should be mobile handset related. One group submits
one report and give one presentation. Students in a group will have same
scores. Students are encouraged to make selection and report to
the instructor (by email: xuan@cse.ohio-state.edu) as early as possible.
- Report Format: The reports
can be in word or latex. It should be 8-10 single-spaced and
two-column pages using 10 point size type on 8.5 x 11 inches pages. See style

- Mobile Handset Background: Mobile
handsets are handheld computers that are designed for humans to perform a
variety of tasks such as planning one's schedule, taking pictures, checking
one's email, and communicating with others' handsets via text and multimedia
messages. Handsets include smartphones such as the BlackBerry and personal
digital assistants (PDAs) such as the Treo that run on embedded operating
systems (OSes) such as Symbian OS and Windows Mobile. Due to their form factor
and mobility, handset sales dominate the computer market and they are increasingly
ubiquitous. Handsets facilitate storage of personal information, Internet
browsing, and even financial transactions, among other applications. A brief
