Short Bio and Research Interests

Before I joined the department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Ohio State University in summer 2011, I was a postdoc researcher in the Computer Science Division of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley, under the direction of Prof. Ravi Ramamoorthi and Prof. James O'Brien, from Oct 2009 to May 2011.

I received my doctorate in computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. My PhD advisor is Greg Turk. Before that, I got a Master's degree in Computer Science from Stanford University in 2004 and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering (mixed class 1998) from Zhejiang University in China in 2002.

I am generally interested in most aspects of computer graphics, and computer vision and image processing techniques that can be applied to graphics problems. My primary research area is physically based simulation, especially in incorporating real-world data into physically based simulators for fast, realistic animation effects.
