CCAA Action

CEEGS CE 590.04 N "Environmental Engineering Process Development". New design course focusing on environmental engineering processes. (CPS Note:  Needs a grading plan before going to OAA.) (Received 2/25/98) Conditional OK

(CPS Note: Contingent on receiving a grading plan, later received.)

OK
EE 644 N "Noise, Interference, and Safety Issues in Electrical Engineering". Has run as 694G with good enrollment; reflects shift in interests in the power area. (Received 2/13/98) OK OK
EE 716 C "Optics With Laser Light". Name change to remove "and Laboratory", to correct error in EE 716 course change that was submitted and approved earlier this quarter. (Received 2/27/98) OK OK
FAB 605 N "Measurement and Instrumentation". Proposed to provide much-needed technical elective for advanced UG students, and a course for grad students before beginning their research. (Received ???) OK Conditional OK

(Contingent on concurrence from EE and ME.)

MSE 783 C "Senior Design Project II". Number change from H695.02 to match college-wide numbering scheme for honors projects. (Received 2/27/98) OK OK
ME 553 C "Kinematics and Dynamics of Machinery". Prerequisite change from "EM 430 and enrollment in an Eng major or permission of instructor" to "EM 430, ME 250 and enrollment in an Eng major or permission of the ME dept." in order to ensure students know enough MATLAB. (CPS Note: Is this course required in any other program besides ME? What aspect of MATLAB is needed beyond what is in EG 167?) (Received 2/17/98) Conditional OK

(CPS Note: Contingent on determining that this is not part of any other program, and on understanding why EG 167 is inadequate as a prerequisite.)

Not discussed at CCAA meeting.
ME 561 C "Failure Modes, Stress Analysis and Failure Principles; Failure Modes". Prerequisite change from "ME 250 and MSE 405; for non-mech. eng majors: EM 220 and MSE 405 or equiv." to "ME 250, MSE 405 and ISE 311 or permission of the department" in order to formalize requirement of ISE 311, which has always been assumed. (CPS Note: Is this course required in any other program besides ME?) (Received ???) Conditional OK

(CPS Note: Contingent on determining that this is not part of any other program.)

Not discussed at CCAA meeting.
ME 760 C "Form Synthesis and Applied Stress Analysis of Machinery". Prerequisite change from "ME 562, 563, and 664 or EM 763 or equiv." to "ME 562 and 563 or grad. standing in Eng." in order to reflect changes in ME 664 and EM 763; also, students now have a good understanding of finite elem. from UG courses. (CPS Note: What does the rationale mean?) (Received 2/19/98) Conditional OK

(CPS Note: Contingent on understanding rationale, later explained at CCAA meeting and changed in paperwork.)
