Curriculum Committee ("CC") Minutes for 4 November 1994 ______________________________________________________________________________ Attending: Fujimura, Kerr, Perlman, Soundararajan, Ware, Wenger, Weide, Yagel, Yeack 1. Report on list of questions to be answered early by those proposing major (multi-course) curriculum changes and/or new programs Bruce presented two lists of questions and asked for feedback from the committee by e-mail. (Note: No changes have been suggested as of 11-11-94.) He will ask Tim Long to answer both sets of questions (general questions regarding new programs, and specific questions regarding proposed changes to the software "spine" courses: 221, 222, 321, 560, 680), and will ask Saday to answer the first set (general questions) for the to-be-proposed scientific computation program. 2. Report on 694I: C++, and discussion of future role of 294I: Problem Solving Using C++, and the general question of the department's "main programming language" The committee discussed many aspects of the role of C++ and object-oriented programming notions (inheritance, polymorphism, dynamic binding, etc.) in the CS curriculum. Neelam agreed to lead a group of faculty in making a comprehensive proposal that addresses this general issue.
