Curriculum Committee Agenda for 17 April 1996: * Discussion of proposed change to CIS 737 (cross-listing with ISWE, Psychology, Speech & Hearing, Philosophy, and Linguistics) (Leon; 10 minutes) Leon's summary of this is as follows: "The proposal is to change the credit hours of CIS 737 (Proseminar in Cognitive Science) from 2 to 2-5. CIS 737 is cross-listed in ISWE, Psychology, Speech & Hearing, Philosophy, and Linguistics. It is felt that that a variable number of hours can accommodate the goals of different instructors and allow them to respond to the changing educational needs of students as the field changes. The proposal considers three possible types: * Proseminar only: 2 credits, one 2 period class (like now). * Instructor lectures + guest lectures: 3 credits, two 1.5 period classes. * Co-taught, interdisciplinary intro to cogsci: 5 credits, three 1.5 period classes." * Discussion of proposed change to faculty loads algorithm to use credit hours, not courses, as the basis for computation; while remaining neutral with respect to total classes taught by faculty (Bill; 40 minutes)
