Academic Misconduct

In accordance with Faculty Rule 3335-5-487, all instances of alleged academic misconduct will be reported to the department chairperson and the Committee on Academic Misconduct. Academic misconduct is grounds for failing the course and may be grounds for further sanctions. Academic misconduct includes, but is not limited to, giving or receiving information during an exam and submitting plagiarized work for academic requirements.

Students are required to do assignments alone. This allows for some high-level consultation, but the required materials must be entirely your own work. Students suspected of copying or working together will be referred to the Committee on Academic Misconduct.

You are responsible for all the material you submit for grading. Your instructor reserves the right to ask you to explain your approach to the problem, the equations used, etc. Your response may affect your grade on the assignment in question.

The reason for this policy is that, based on past experience, some students show extraordinary skills in completing the homework, but little knowledge on tests. Be sure to do your own work, and plan on putting significant time and effort into this course.

Fairness to Students

we strive to treat students with dignity and fairness and to be particularly sensitive to the diversity that exists within the student body. Students with disabilities who request help will be given reasonable accommodation with the assistance of the University Office of Disability Services (292-3307).

Attendance

Students are expected to attend lecture. You are responsible for all material covered, all assignments made, and all due dates announced.  You can access the course notes, assignments, and additional information about exams at this site.

Make-ups

Without prior approval, no make-ups will be given for missed tests (exams or quizzes). You must take the test during the scheduled time. Permission to take a makeup test will only be given if

  1. notified in writing with a justification at least a week prior to the class in which the test is given or
  2. there is a medical emergency documented by a health care professional.
This approval will only be given in the most extreme circumstances. Without prior approval, you will receive a grade of zero on missed tests. No exceptions will be made to this policy.

Grading

Grading breakdown is shown as a guide for determining grades. Final grades are at the discretion of the Instructor. You must pass the final exam in order to pass the class.
