Topics: Data communications, network architectures, communication protocols, data link control, medium access control; introduction to local area networks and wide area networks; introduction to Internet and TCP/IP

 

Prerequisites:    Physics 112 or 132; CSE 360 or ECE 265; and CSE 459.21.

Textbook

    1. James E. Kurose and Keith W. Ross, Computer Networking: A Top-Down Approach Featuring the Internet,
      Fifth Edition, Addison Wesley. Online resource (including errata, quizzes etc.) related to the text is available
      online.  (Edition 4 is fine too, but a few sections are not in the old edition - see the table above)
