-
Chapter 1: Introduction - read it for general information
- 1.1 What is Geometric Modeling?
Defines some terms; read it for general info.
- 1.2 History
Kind of interesting. Good to know the difference between wireframe, polygon modeling, and solid modeling.
- 1.3 The Mathematics
reviews basic math; you're in trouble if this material in not familiar to you.
- 1.4 Conventions and Notation
goes over basic notation for the book
-
Chapter 2: Curves - Very important for general introduction to curves
- 2.1 Intrinsic Equations of Curves
Discusses extrinsic v. intrinsic properties. Applies to surfaces as well as curves. This distinction is good to be aware of.
- 2.2 Parametric Equations of Curves
Covers explicit v. implicit equations; good to know the basic difference
- 2.3 Parametric Equations
Covers parametric equations - what we'll be dealing with almost exclusively in this course. Very important to understand about the parametric derivatives.
- 2.4 Conic Curves
Mildly interesting as a side note, but not very important to the class.
- 2.5 Hermite, Bezier, and B-Spline Curves: An Overview
Introduces the various parametric curves that we'll be looking at - good introduction to them but little meat; we'll come to that later.
- 2.6 Points on a Curve
Discusses points on a curve. Material you should read as an introduction to things we'll be dealing with later.
