Description

This course is intended for students with one year of experience in RESOLVE C++ or equivalent to learn C details. Hence, it is assumed that you have some programming background. You should also be familiar with some programming concepts like data structures, recursion, etc.

Basic skills using a text editor (such as vi, emacs or others) is required. In addition, some familiarity with the UNIX operating system is expected. Intermediate/Advanced C specifics will be covered, and four lab assignments are prescribed for practice.

Objectives

Be familiar with using the most commonly used C language constructs;
Be exposured to some typical C programming errors, along with techniques for avoiding them.
Be exposured to system programming concepts and practices

Grading Plan

This course is graded S/U (satisfactory/unsatisfactory). There will be four programming assignments, occasional pop quizs and no exams. In order to get a satisfactory grade in this course, you must fulfill all of the following conditions:
- Attend classes regularly
- Take pop quizs (5% each).
- Submit working programs for all the lab assignments. (20% each)
