Tian Luo (罗天)

I have been a PhD student at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, The Ohio State University, since September 2008. My research advisor is Dr. Xiaodong Zhang. I am a member of HPCS Lab.

I received my M.E. degree in Computer Software from Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICT, CAS) in 2008. I got my B.E. degree in Computer Science and Technology from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in 2005.

I am mainly interested in research topics related to data and storage.

• Data-intensive infrastructure v.s. emerging storage technology: Data management and processing is more and more being challenged by new architectures, such as SSDs. Better designs of software are desired to make the most out of hardware development. Regarding the best tradeoff between cost and performance, redesigned software is most likely to run on top of a hybrid storage system. It is challenging to create smart software that can automatically exploit the merits and avoid the limitations of heterogeneous devices.
