- XML & MathML are assembly-level languages for the WWW
- LaTeX and TeX are not perfect, but they are great tools for working with hypertext
- LaTeX: human-friendly character-based interface for authoring content
- TeX: back-end interface for getting print-oriented output
- While far from being complete and polished, much of the needed machinery is already available
- Wish list: more coordinated work within the (La)TeX community (see W3C)
LaTeX is established and boring by now. XML is still young and challenging. They are two powerful complementary
technologies. Cheer up the old one, and have fun with the new one.
