Making a Html file World Wide Accessible

Telnet will not allow you to view WEB files in your cis account directly with Internet Explorer. However, you can make a file foo.html accessible to your browser in the following manner.

• Create a new directory named WWW (upper case W’s) with the command: mkdir WWW
• Make your WWW directory accessible with the command: chmod 711 WWW
• Move your foo.html file to directory WWW with the command: cp foo.html ~/WWW/.
• Make your file accessible with the command: chmod 644 ~/WWW/*
• Point your Internet Explorer browser to
  http://WWW.cis.ohio-state.edu/~xxxx/foo.html

  where xxxx stands for your user name.
