Help in Labs
The labs have two kinds of personnel to help with problems:
- Monitors
-
They are responsible for equipment problems.
- Consultants
-
They are responsible to help with programming and system-related problems. Do not ask the CIS consultants in the
labs to help you with the logic of a programming assignment. The CIS Department provides laboratory consultants
to answer questions concerning:
- Syntax
- Unix operating system
- Meaning of error messages.
Because of the heavy demand on their time by students in all CIS courses, consultants should not be asked to help
you understand or write the lab assignment. Nor should they be asked to alter, rewrite, ^Lx, or insert code. The
consultant’s job is to decipher error messages, and not to correct the errors.
