Student Technology Consultant

I work with the College of Humanities as a Student Technology Consultant(STC) . The Center for the Study and Teaching of Writing (CSTW) is an interdisciplinary support and research unit in The Ohio State University's College of Humanities. CSTW is committed to fostering excellence among writers and teachers of writing at the Ohio State University and in the State of Ohio. Towards this goal, CSTW also provides technology assistance to faculty, graduate students and teaching staff to attain self-sufficiency through the Student Technology Consultants program. I'm thoroughly enjoying the experience of engaging with a set of really cool people outside of my area of study. I had heard a lot about graduate school broadening one's perspective and offering a lot of diversity. I can see that in action now and its fun! The best part of it is that the "fun" work I do is still aligned with what I study and I don't notice the "geeky" part of it! In particular, I've started working on the "Harlot" project which is an attempt to bring the Rhetorical studies' academia and the lay-man to a common platform. The study of rhetorics is itself inter-disciplinary which makes this project very exciting. And I'm happy to contribute my two cents to get this project up and running. I've also worked with

  1. Web-based database applications (using Apache-PHP-MySql framework)
  2. Zoho tool-suite (an online office productivity suite)
  3. Carmen (OSU's online course management tool)
  4. Adobe Suite(Dreamweaver, Photoshop)
  5. Blogs, wikis
  6. HTML and
  7. Perl
