Paper to read

Please read the following paper before class on Thursday.

J.P. Campbell. Speaker recognition: A tutorial. Proceedings of IEEE, 85:1437-1462, 1997.

If the above link doesn't work then you can find it via google pretty easily. Really, do read it.

HW 5, 6 now out

I've posted new copies of homework 5 and 6, which are pretty similar to the previous draft.

HW 4 posted

I've posted HW4, which has several options depending on your stress level, ambition, etc. Basically I'd like you to code up part of the Viterbi algorithm (which is the main part of what we did in class on Thursday). Due date is next Monday (13 feb).

Please read the homework over just in case you have questions early -- I got a lot of questions on Friday/Saturday for HW3, and I'd like to head them off sooner rather than later.

ALSO: I've posted draft homeworks for HW5 and HW6 so you can judge upcoming workloads. The final versions will be similar (if not the same) in workload. Could be a tad lighter.

HW3 due Monday (instead of Sunday)

Since there seem to have been a number of questions on HW3 and I was out of town (although I answered a number of queries by email), I'm extending the deadline to Monday night.

Also: if you do your HW in python, feel free to turn it in and we'll figure out how to grade it. I understand that python no longer is on the stdsun machines (which I'm gonna fix durn it).

hw1 answers for hw3

I've put a hw1-answers directory in the class directory to help those who didn't finish hw1 in doing hw3.
