The Second Ohio Celebration of Women in Computing (OCWIC) will be held
February 16-17, 2007 at the Deer Creek Resort and Conference Center,
located near Mt. Sterling, Ohio. OCWIC is a regional conference
modeled after the international Grace Hopper Celebration of women in
computing. Attendees will be women majoring in computing fields and
enrolled in universities and colleges from all over Ohio as well as
women teaching and working in computing careers.
OCWIC is an opportunity for young women to explore the opportunities
in IT, to network with other young women and to meet possible mentors.
OCWIC hopes to encourage women to complete their studies in computing
by exploring careers and meeting women leaders from business, industry
and academia.
The conference program includes parallel and plenary sessions,
technical papers and posters and panels designed to inspire, educate
and encourage technical women and to enable networking among women
participating in the IT field in Ohio. The OCWIC2007 keynote speaker
will be Dell CIO Susan Sheskey. Ms. Sheskey is a Miami University
alumna who has worked for Dell for over 13 years.

Second Ohio Celebration of Women in Computing Draws Students, Faculty, Industry Leaders -
The second Ohio Celebration of Women in Computing (OCWIC) conference was held on February 16 to 17 in south central Ohio. Nearly 100 attendees from all over the state, ranging from freshmen to grad students, from faculty to women working in IT jobs in industry, benefited from the low-cost, regionally-tailored, professional conference, which is modeled after the international Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing. The program features highly successful technical women and provides opportunities for networking. The model for the regional celebrations was developed by an ACM-W working committee. Those interested in hosting such events in their region can contact Bettina Bair or Gloria Townsend.
