Weinland Park Computer Club for Girls

Assist with and help teach classes - 4 members needed, 90-120 minutes, once a week

Weinland Park Elementary School students come from impoverished homes. Ten to fifteen girls in the 4th and 5th grade will learn technology skills and see women in technology as role models for possible career choices.The objectives of this program are to raise knowledge level of girls related to technology and to provide role models of women involved with technology careers.

The format is as weekly, after-school sessions where the girls are provided with hands-on opportunities to learn everything from simple applications to web page design.

TECH CORPS Ohio

Assist high-school based coordinators and volunteers with the implementation of the Student TECH CORPS program in Ohio.

Specific Responsibilities:

 Recruit, support and manage schools and volunteers as they implement their technology projects, this includes ongoing contact via email, phone calls and site visits.

 Assist with the development of volunteer recruitment tools.

bullet

 Recruit, train, support and manage volunteer pool.

bullet

 Maintain volunteer database.

bullet

 Work with TECH CORPS Ohio staff to describe the structures and strategies that have been most successful in recruiting and supporting schools and volunteers.

 Compile successful structures and strategies into a practical working guidebook which will be used in work with other regions and which will evolve as new strategies emerge.

 Develop strategies for sharing useful information between participants (schools and volunteers).

 Work with TECH CORPS Ohio staff to develop and distribute “school success stories” to local media outlets.

 Perform a variety of routine office functions and clerical tasks incidental to the office.

 Assist TECH CORPS Ohio staff with obtaining funding to support program.
