Conversion to Semesters
OSU will be converting the academic calendar from quarters to semesters in Summer 2012. Information about the semester programs and the transition plans for current students is available via the following links:
- BS CSE:
- BS CIS:
- BA CIS:
- CIS Minor:
- Computational Science and Engineering Minor:
- Distribution of CSE/non-CSE hours in various computing programs under semesters
- Individualized transition plan: Each current student (except
those who will be graduating by Sp '12) will
receive an e-mail from the
Advising Office to make an
appointment where an individualized transition plan for that student will
be created and agreed upon. Prior to the
appointment, students will be required to complete
this worksheet and bring
the completed worksheet with them to the appointment.
The worksheet represents the plan the student could have followed if
OSU were not switching to semesters and will serve as the
starting point for creating the transition plan for that student as OSU
moves to semesters. The Advising Office is also organizing workshops where details of the transition are discussed in full detail. Two
workshops were held during Spring '11 and more are planned starting in
Au '11. The slides used during the last workshop are available
here but students who have not
yet attended one of the workshops should make
every effort to attend the next workshop (in Au '11) to be sure they
fully understand the transition process.
- CSE courses under semesters: One major activity in the
conversion to the semester calendar has been the creation of syllabi
for all the CSE semester courses. These syllabi have been constructed and
are currently (late Spring 2011) in the process of being approved by
the College of Engineering and the university:
- CSE semester courses, quarter equivalents, prerequisites, etc.
- All CSE semester course syllabi as a single file
- Course bulletin version of all CSE semester courses
