Deleting and Pasting Blocks of Text



  • Now enter Esc < to return to the top of the screen, and search for the word Important using C-s. Use the mouse to highlight the entire text in the paragraph on which the cursor is at this point.
  • From the "Edit" menu choose "Cut". This will delete the highlighted text. (The keyboard shortcut is C-w, for "wipe-out".)
  • Move the cursor one line above the preceding paragraph and enter C-y. (The keyboard shortcut mnemonic is "yank-back".)  The paragraph that you deleted previously is now pasted at the new position.
