To save changes to the file ~/Testdir/sample, just click on the "Save" icon below the menu bar. Alternatively, you can save changes by choosing "Save sample (C-x C-s)" from the "File" menu. If you want to save changes to the file under a different file name, choose "Save As (C-x C-w)" instead.
In case you accidentally do something you don't want to do, such as delete, you can use the undo feature in XEmacs. To do so, just click on the "Undo" icon below the menu bar. Alternatively, select "Undo (C-x u)" from the "Edit" menu. You can undo several previous editing actions by choosing several undos in a row.
In addition, you can cancel a partially completed command using the command C-g. For example, if you issue an "Open..." command and then decide that you don't want to do this anymore, type C-g and the command will be cancelled. C-g is also useful for getting yourself out of trouble after typographical errors at the command line start an action you don't fully understand or intend.
