Plant Growth Modeling

Plant is a popular subject of study in graphical modeling. Past approaches include procedural and fractal methods, in which the primary emphasis was to synthetically create visually-acceptable botanical shapes. Our goal is to model the growth as precisely as possible based on images of real plant growth so as to provide meaningful data for plant biology research. Issues include spatio-temporal modeling, model-based fitting, and optimization. Joint research with Dept. of Plant Biology, OSU.
