Academia Letter
Dear Potential University and College Sponsors,

The Ohio Celebration of Women in Computing (OCWIC) will be held February 16-17, 2007 at the Deer Creek Resort and Conference Center, located near Mt. Sterling, Ohio. OCWIC is a regional conference modeled after the international Grace Hopper Celebration of women in computing. Attendees will be women majoring in computing fields and enrolled in universities and colleges from all over Ohio. After a very successful OCWIC 2005 held at Deer Creek, the organizing committee anticipates an even bigger and better event and are planning for approximately 150 students, faculty and industry representatives to attend.

Based on the OCWIC 2005 experience, the organizing committee estimates a cost of $150.00 per attendee at OCWIC 2007. This cost includes conference registration and materials, meals, and lodging. We are seeking sponsors from university and college departments whose graduates pursue careers in computing fields. Your sponsorship provides a source of scholarships for students wanting to attend OCWIC 2007. Through your generosity, additional students besides those selected from your institution may receive OCWIC scholarships. The Academic Sponsors Levels with Benefits table lists and explains the levels: Platinum ($2500), Gold ($2000), Silver ($1500), Bronze ($1000) and Affiliate ($500). Example benefits are a guaranteed number of registrations for your students and significant publicity that your institution is committed to diversity and to supporting and advancing women in the computing fields.

OCWIC 2007 can continue OCWIC 2005´s success by inspiring and motivating young women to pursue careers in computing, fostering connections among the Ohio universities and colleges, creating networking and mentoring opportunities, and introducing them to successful women leaders from both industry and academia. With your support and commitment, OCWIC 2007 can be the experience that makes a difference in a young women´s life by providing her with the information and encouragement needed to make her career goals in computing a reality.

Please review the Academic Sponsors table and consider becoming an OCWIC sponsor. Note the two sponsor commit deadlines of Oct. 22 and Dec. 1 and the early registration deadline of Jan. 10 for your students to receive their scholarships. If you do decide to become a sponsor, you can make a check out to "The Ohio State University OCWIC" and mail it to
