Ring-Graph
The Ring-Graph environment
is built based on our experience and existing visualization tools
implemented on the BBN Butterfly systems (MIN-Graph).
The hardware facilities supporting
Ring-Graph are divided into two parts:
a graphics supported workstation is used for data analysis and
visualization, and a ring-based architecture for program execution.
user Ringrequests and performance visualization, (2) a user request
analyzer, (3) a workstation/parallel machine communication interface,
(4) an instrumentation
preprocessor for event detection, (5) a trace routine library for
event measurement, (6) an execution I/O controller for
parallel job submissions and performance data collections,
and (7) a data analyzer for event analysis.
The graphical software tool is X-window based and
implemented on the KSR-1, a hierarchical ring-based shared-memory
architecture. The framework of the software tool can be easily implemented to
other multiprocessor architectures for performance evaluation.
