CSE Graduate Admissions

If you are interested in applying for admission to the graduate program in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, please traverse the various links below for relevant information.

We devote considerable effort to keeping our web pages on graduate admissions up to date in the hope that 1) they will provide you all the information you need and 2) decrease for us the one-on-one email deluge that we have experienced in the past with graduate admissions inquiries. We simply don't have the resources to answer in a prompt and thorough manner these individual emails, typically containing questions that are addressed in the links below.

If, after having read all the information, you still have questions about our graduate admissions procedures or policy, please direct them to grad-adm@cse.ohio-state.edu.

Student Support

Financial aid is available to students in the form of Teaching and Research Assistantships and Fellowships. These provide tuition, fees, and a stipend. We also have special Fellowships for students from underrepresented groups.

Special Fellowship

To help promote diversity among computing graduate students and professionals, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering will provide a graduate fellowship (tuition and fees, plus a monthly stipend) to start in Autumn 2006. The fellowship will support a new graduate student for a maximum of three years. During the period of support, the student will be encouraged to seek other types of funding, such as a GRA position or other fellowship, as appropriate. Should such support be obtained, CSE will make up the difference between that support and what other supported CSE graduate students of the same rank receive. During periods in which other support is not forthcoming, CSE will pay the entire support amount. This fellowship is limited to graduate students from traditionally underrepresented groups, such as African, Native, or Hispanic- American. The graduate admissions committee will work with the departmental diversity coordinator to identify potential candidates and make the award.
