Diversity Tutoring
& Mentoring Programs
Tutoring can be a helpful supplement to time spent in class, studying on one's own, and meeting with the instructor and graders. We no longer provide free tutoring to diversity students. However, if you feel that working one-on-one with a fellow student on a one-time basis or regularly would help you succeed in your class, we encourage you to choose one of the links below.
- General CSE tutors. Tutors assist CSE undergraduates with any questions they might have regarding their CSE coursework. The Tutor list does not represent an endorsement of the abilities of tutors by the CSE department. It is provided solely as a convenience for students who are seeking tutoring assistance. Fees are negotiated individually. If you have additional questions please see Kathryn Reeves in Dreese Labs 395B.
- Minority student tutoring program. The purpose of the Office of Minority Affairs Tutoring Program is to assist minority students at The Ohio State University with enhancing and enriching their academic skills. The program provides tutoring in a wide range of general education courses and selected major courses. Emphasis is placed on tutoring math, science, languages, statistics, and economics courses, as well as social science and expository writing courses. Any minority student at The Ohio State University may apply for a tutor. Priority assignment is given to students funded by the Office of Minority Affairs.

New E-Mentoring Service Available!
Ohio State has enrolled in MentorNet, the award-winning, e-mentoring network for diversity in engineering and science, to offer one-on-one, e-mail-based mentoring opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral staff and early career faculty in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
MentorNet is nonprofit and free to students. It addresses the retention and success of those in engineering, science and mathematics, particularly but not exclusively women and other underrepresented groups.
To find a mentor, fill out a profile online and select a mentor. To volunteer as a mentor, fill out a mentor profile online as well. OSU's enrollment in this service is funded by the colleges of Engineering, Biological Sciences, and Math and Physical Sciences; and the Women's Place. Sign up to be a mentee or mentor here: http://www.mentornet.net/
