Bair Leading the Way for Women
CSE is proud to congratulate Bettina
Bair on her recent receipt of the Association
of Faculty and Professional Women's 2004 Mary Ann Williams
Woman's Leadership Award. The honor is bestowed upon a University
woman who exhibits special leadership, instills in others a
sense of confidence to succeed, and promotes a greater understanding
of others.
Bettia wears several hats within
the Department. As well as being a full-time
lecturer teaching CSE 102, 200, 360 and 616 classes, she
is the Director, TWICE-c.a.s.t.
and the Co-Director of our Undergraduate
Diversity program. Though possibly her most fun activity
is serving as the Faculty Sponsor for the ACM-W
Student Chapter, a group of very active students. This latter
effort has been gaining a lot of notice. The national ACM recently
highlighted her "Computer Anatomy:101" workshop which
was part of the Take Your Daughter to Work Day. The article
and pictures of the seminar can be seen
here.
Bettina joins a very illustrious
group. Sally Boysen, Professor of Psychology and founder of
the Ohio State University Chimpanzee Center, was the 2003 recipient.
