Data Locality Optimization for
Synthesis of Efficient Out-of-Core Algorithms

Abstract:
The Tensor Contraction Engine synthesizes efficient parallel programs for
a class of computations encountered in computational chemistry. The
computations to be performed can be expressed a set of tensor contractions
and correspond to a set of imperfectly nested loops. The data involved
might be too large to fit in main memory. In this talk we discuss a
mechanism for generation of efficient out-of-core code. A performance
model for I/O is derived and loop tiling is performed to optimize data
locality.

These talks are funded by a grant from the Ohio Board of Regents.
