Dr Peter Middleton MBA gained his PhD in Computer Science from Imperial
College, London. He worked for 10 years in industry, the last 5 years as Head
of Information Services for a 7,000 person organisation. He then joined
Queen's University, Belfast as a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science in 1990.
Since then his focus has been research into how to produce reliable software,
on time and within budget.

Peter is working on applying lean manufacturing and industrial engineering
ideas to software development. He has collaborated with IBM New York and is
now working with Lockheed Martin and other companies on this research. The
initial results are that these techniques work in this environment. The key
constraints are that the human resource and sales functions must also be
managed effectively.
