Polarimetric Object Classification

Polarimetric sensing of objects in both active and passive modes provides unique physical insights that can be used in improved object classification. In the past decade the availability of polarimetric diverse imaging sensors in a variety of modes, passive visible and infrared, or active ladar and SAR have opened new windows of opportunities and challenges for automated classification of objects and patterns for a variety of applications.

In this presentation we will focus on the recent progress made, challenges faced and future directions in sensing and classification by means of extracting and using Stokes vectors and Mueller matrices from polarimetric passive infrared, active ladar and synthetic aperture radar signatures.
